Canine to five is a brand new service caring for dogs (and cats) in the Wesleyan Hills area of Middletown, CT.

I started this business after having spent many years as a graphic designer. Taking time away from the 9 to 5 business world to be with my new daughter allowed me to re-evaluate my life behind a desk. I enjoyed the creative aspects of my work, but was lacking the things I valued most; family, animals and being outdoors.

Having commuted for so many years I was keenly aware of the needs of both dogs and their owners which led me to create my business as a dog walker.

I began to scour the library for any dog behavior books I could get my hands on, adding to my canine knowledge. I am Red Cross Certified in Pet First Aid. I’ve owned dogs and cats all my life. I train my dog and those of my clients using the latest research, techniques, and methods that emphasize willing cooperation and a strong bond between you and your dog.

Taking care of dogs isn’t necessarily complicated, but I think a lot of people imagine it to be easier than it is. Taking care of people’s pets is a huge responsibility and one I don’t take lightly. I am happy to be able to work with dogs every day, for it brings me an enormous sense of purpose and joy. Just as important to me however, is the dog’s owner. It is my goal to make you as much a part of the service you purchase for your beloved friend as they are.

Walking your dog helps form the pack leader/follower bond. When you are unable to walk your dog on a daily basis, a dog walker can fill the gap. Your dog will have a human leader, enforcing the bond, resulting in a more balanced dog, and a happier home!
